Julia is a senior researcher in the research group "Politics of Digitalization" at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. She holds a PhD in Communication Studies from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and an MA in Cultural Studies, Philosophy and Computer Science from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She is an alumnus of the Global Governance Futures Program, and previously worked at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and at SMIT, the Center for Studies in Media, Innovation and Technology, in Brussels. Julia currently serves as co-chair for the Communication Policy &Technology Section (CPT) of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), on the Steering Committee of the Internet Governance Forum Germany (IGF-D) and as an academic editor of the Internet Policy Review.
