Michael Münz is Senior Project Manager in Deutsche Welle's Events department.
Deutsche Welle is Germany's medial voice in the world. Its main task is to inform people. The journalistic contents of DW in all modern media and several projects of the DW Academy strengthen the human right on freedom of opinion and unrestricted access to information. DW shapes the image of Germany worldwide with its offers and its clear, value-based approach. Münz joined DW as Internal Communications Manager and later joined the Director General’s office. Münz then coordinated DW’s cooperations with strategic partners before working as Deputy Head of the Social Media News Department. Currently he coordinates this year's digital version of the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum. Through digital technology and broad media coverage of topics highlighted at the conference, the GMF manages to reach a global audience, drawing reactions and responses around the world.
From 2015 to 2019 Münz took a break from DW and worked as Head of Project Management at Gustav-Stresemann-Institut where he was repsonsible for publications, events and online projects like the https://colloquium-digital-societies.eu/ and an audio podcast concerning the German unification.
Michael Münz has a Master of Education from Osnabrück University and has worked as Assistant Teacher in London. He published a book on Social Media in 2010 and has worked as freelancer for newspapers and magazines. Münz is also co-founder and organizer of the Socialbar Bonn, a regular event to discuss the possibilities of social media for the civil society. Running in its tenth year, participants come from NPOs, Activists, Politicians, Social Entrepreneurs and Volunteers. He speaks at confrences such as the republica, the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum or Medientage Mitteldeuschland. Besides, he is also a dedicated DJ and blogger.
